The Lodge is a unique typology as it is both a representation and a representative, the Home and the State. At once, the Lodge is an intensely private space, the other, a hyper public representation of a fluctuating idea, a function of the state.
The proposal explores the inherent contradiction of democratic system of governance – the relationship between the people and the state. We do this through the notion of representation. As spaces within the Lodge are inhabited, the spatial relationship between the functions provide a constant reminder of their intended position in our society.
